The Charm

Is today going to be a good day, I thought to myself as I stared at the gentle glow of purple on my bracelet charm. I haven’t had a good day since my heart left me. It still feels like a dream, so unreal.

I keep replaying that day in my head; seeing how the portal he had opened swallowed him whole, separating him from my world as he journeyed to his. I remember how the brilliant glow of the charm on the bracelet died just as the portal got sealed up and I wondered if that was the only way to solve the chemistry of our seemingly ill fated love.

But today it was glowing again, so it was going to be a good day. The warmth of the charm was welcomed as it pressed against my wrist. I let the charm lead me to the sea shore where it shone brightest.

A portal opened before me, a bright light swirling and expanding at its center, and I watched as my heart stepped out of it. His pale fair skin clothed in his traditional war regalia, both of his hands wielding a sword each, his face wet with a mixture of sweat and blood and tendrils of his hair stuck to his face, the rest of his long black hair was packed in a bun at the center of his head kept in place by a swordsman hairpin.

I could hear the waves crash in a distant part of my mind. I watched, frozen where I was as he walked towards me, purple fire danced in the black if his irises, his gaze firm and fixed on me. I knew what the look meant. VICTORY — for he had changed our fate.
