I hate balloons!
There, I said it. Those things scare the living bits out of me. Is it weird? I guess. Is it ridiculous? Maybe. But does it make balloons any less terrifying for me? NO.
I’ve wondered a lot about why something as frilly as balloons scare me so, but I can’t seem to figure out why. I didn’t always dislike them though, in fact I played with balloons a lot as a child. I’d even spend my savings buying balloons in a bid to get the biggest balloon of the pack. It was a fun game to play as child. Ahh, fun times.
Now, I can’t stand them. Let me tell you how bad it gets – when I see balloons in movies or pictures sometimes, my heart begins to beat so fast like it’s going to pop out of my chest. It’s as if my subconscious registers it first, then my heart begins to pound before my eyes and brain clicks to the fact that there’s a balloon in front of me.
Like calm down my heart, the balloons will disappear from your face with just a pop, no need to be afraid – that’s what logic tells me. But you see my heart, that tricky little thing goes into overdrive…. and it gets worse. Sometimes I start tearing up, embarrassing myself and my ancestors over some bloody balloons! Whew!
Now, what I dislike the most about this whole situation is that people don’t get it. I mean, it’s easy to understand people can be afraid of snakes and all that, but balloons ??? Very ridiculous. I’ve heard things like, “it’s just balloons, you’re just exaggerating it, it can’t be that bad nau…” and many more like that. Sometimes, the remarks are not mean or offensive, but it doesn’t stop me from wondering what is wrong with me or my heart, or why I’m scared shitless of balloons, or if I’m exaggerating my reactions to them, you know…. such and such like that.
Other times, it’s not even the comments that rattle me; it is the people that find out I’m terrified of balloons who then go ahead to throw balloons at me or chase me round with them just to “see” how scared I am. The most terrible of the lots. If you have been guilty of this before, I forgive you but never do that again. It’s just plain cruel and not funny at all.
Finally I’ll just add this; people are afraid of different things, whether big or small. The extent of your fear for something will differ from another person’s. Also just because something means nothing to you doesn’t mean it will also mean nothing to the another person. Understanding this and respecting the other person’s opinion and boundaries is the right/courteous thing to do.
Anyway, I’ve come to the end of my confession/rant. Thank you for reading through ❤️. Please stay home and stay safe. If it is necessary to go out, practice social distancing. Love and light always.

Some people don’t understand that phobias are real and people can be scared of anything no matter how harmless they seem. It’s annoying to see people laugh at others about their fears. However, I’m sure there are ways you can overcome this if you’re ready for it, just take your time dear

Amazing! Very clear message. Unfortunately I am scared of anything from the family of reptiles.
To kill me don’t use gun, just force me to watch a movie featuring reptiles or horrific in nature generally.
Thank you sharing you fear.

Nice one. We all have different phobias, some people are scared of enclosed places, most people don’t respect that and go as far as trying to find out how harmful it is. It’s only natural for people to understand that little things which might seem harmless to them is extremely dangerous to others.

Fears are just as real as life itself. Enclosed spaces really freaked me out as a kid.
P.S Don’t watch a movie titled “IT” if you haven’t yet. And if you have, I hope it didn’t increase your fear of balloons even more.

Our fears in life are one thing we would always put up with especially when a know that we have such phobias. I guess it can be dealt with relative with time and or determination to make it go away, and ofcourse they aren’t easy at all to get over them.
Mine should be maybe height in a way.
