Confession: Two

I love Korean Drama aka K-drama for short. And what’s not to love?! Their movies are wholesome and I must confess, I enjoy watching every single bit of it. The awkward romances, drama, heartbreaks, heartfelt love, comedy, cliche, all of it. All that in just one movie will have you hooked from the first episode until the last!

Again I ask, what’s not to love about K-dramas? I’ll tell you what I love the most about them and why you should try them out.

1. Good storyline

Now, outside the regular boy meets girl fall fall in love story – or rich boy meets poor girl fall in love and parents disapprove, or saucy rich boss falls for smart-mouthed and intelligent secretary – there’s always more to their story.

All I can say is their stories always live a full circle. Take for example, What is wrong with Secretary Kim; it starts out slow but by the second episode you’re hooked. By the third and fourth episode, you already understand who the characters are and why they are the way they are – but you will not see the whole picture yet and that will leave you wanting more!

Before you realize it, you’re on the 10th episode, rooting for the main characters to get hitched, laughing your ass off and in a lovey-dovey mode because their romance is oh so pure!

2. Proudly Cultural

The Korean culture is such a beautiful thing to see in all their dramas whether from the Joseon era or contemporary times. Their language, food, dance, art, dressing and even their mannerisms! Let me not get started with their dressing because… just… well, we’ll get into it.

Personally I find their culture intriguing , especially their language. I’ve watched a lot of Korean drama that I can [to an extent] tell the difference between the South Korean accent and North Korean accent. Big thanks to Crash Landing on You for that! This movie is currently on my top 5 favorites. The Korean language is very beautiful and I want to learn it!

3. Fashion

If for no reason at all, this particular reason is why you should watch K-drama. Their sense of fashion — style, use of colors, accessorizing et all — is A+++, A1, everything good. If you’re into fashion I totally recommend you hop on K-dramas.

Even their cultural fashion is A1; rich colors, fabulous attires and hair styles. Just superb! For cultural fashion, I suggest you see Moon Embracing the Sun. The movie is set in the Joseon era and it is soooo good!

4. Lessons

What is a Korean drama of it doesn’t educate you on something [read: health/mental conditions]?! This speaks for roughly 75% to 80% of their movies I’ve seen.

The first time I learnt of a condition as face blindness was when I watched Girl Who Sees Scents. It’s a nice movie for those who like crime, suspense and thriller.

5. Recommendations

I see now that my confession is getting longer than planned, so I’ll just go ahead to recommend good Korean movies for you to try out.
