Confession: Five

My final confession to wrap up my confession series is that this post is not really a confession. Not at all. It’s just something I’ve been mulling over for a couple of days now. So I’ll just get into it.

As you already know by now, if you have been keeping up with my confessions, I love K-dramas. I recently started a new one — Angel’s Last Mission: Love — and it is super duper interesting. It’s about an angel who interfered with human life when he clearly wasn’t supposed to and for punishment, he was to live as a human being and help a stone-coldhearted woman find love. Even though I haven’t finished it, I totally recommend you watch it and it is available on Netflix.

Anyway, one night I decided to watch a little bit before going to bed and in this episode, the angel — now human — started to develop feelings for this human female. He was feeling human emotions; anger, affection, infatuation, desire… and this got me thinking. Uhh, not really, more like the thought popped in my head and I started digging into it and mulling over it.

Is this how God felt when he came in flesh as Jesus? Of course I knew it that Jesus is God and he lived as man and was hungry at some point and even angry. That was very easy to think about and accept. That night however, as I watched that episode there was suddenly more to that thought… . Jesus lived as a man, so he definitely went through puberty, he definitely felt the way every boy going through puberty would. On the other hand, he wasn’t made for fleshly desires and as this thought occurred to me again a verse in the Bible jumped in my head. This verse was describing Jesus as the young chap who spent time in the temple, his father’s house, doing the Lord’s business, Luke 2:49 [for context read Luke 2:41-52].

And then it suddenly occurred to me that the secret to overcoming fleshly desires (read, temptation as seen in James 1:14) is abiding in God’s presence. But if you think about this, it really isn’t a secret because it’s already out there in the Bible. And Jesus knew this that’s why he always spent quality [quiet] time with the Father. He was dwelling in, remaining in, relying on the power of God. He was abiding in the presence of God always.

In other words, we can only lead prefect lives like Jesus did if we abide in God. The more we dwell in God’s presence, the more we are changed to the perfect image of who we really are in Christ.

So in conclusion, abide, abide and don’t stop abiding.

P.P.S: Isn’t it funny that God put this thought in my head while I was watching a movie?! 😂. Amazing.

P.P.P.S: Stay safe guys ❤️
